Wonderful old spelter figure of a dog on an oval base. The base is covered with oak leaves and acorns in relief. This one probably dates to the first quarter of the 20th century, and is in good condition with the exception of a small tear in the metal at the base of one back foot (shown in one of the pictures), and the other back foot is no longer attached to the base. Perhaps this minor damage occurred because the figure was dropped but there are no dents or other signs of damage. This dog would make a striking desk or shelf accessory in a man's room or library. The dog looks like a setter but may be some other breed. The piece is highly detailed and totally captivating. Size is 8" long and approx. 6" high, and the oval base itself is about 6.5" long. Width of the base is 3".
