Fabulous pair of antique majolica palissy pots with eggplant shaded exterior and green interior and decorated with butterflies around the circumference of the pots. The pots have a bulbous body and flared rim, and are supported on a stem of twisted tree roots resting in a bed of grass simulated by strands of applied slip. There is a leafy fringe at the base of the pot. There are some small chips on these tiny leaves but they are hardly noticeable. Also in the roots there are some old kiln cracks on one but again, hardly noticeable. Size of the pot is approx. 5 and 3/8ths inches high and the top flares to 2 and 3/8ths inches in diameter. Purchased from a north Atlanta estate sale several years ago. No marks on base.
