Samuel Weller in 1872 founded Weller Pottery in Fultonham, Ohio where high quality clay for pottery production was plentiful. The company moved its operation to Zanesville, Ohio in 1889 and eventually added decorative art pottery lines to its inventory to compete with other potters. The vase pictured is fully marked to the bottom with 'Weller Pottery', a mark used in 1928. The lines are classic Art Deco, and the finish is a beautiful 'alligator skin' exterior, with a solid green interior. Hand decorated. No chips, cracks or repairs. A good size, the vase measures slightly more than 8" tall and 4 1/2" across the top.
