We enjoy bringing you European artists from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco era, who were well-regarded at the time, but who may not have had exposure in the United States. Until now! Belgian Impressionist artist Victoire Pirenne-Keppenne was born in Liége in 1883 and died in Spa in 1934. He won awards and accolades at the BRUXELLES EXPOSITION GENERALE DES BEAUX-ARTS in 1914, in association with the Concours de la Societe Royale des Beaux-Arts. In 1917, he immortalized with oil on canvas a young family staying at the Leroy Farm at Préfayhai, which recently sold at the Fine Art Week exhibition at Spa for several thousand euros.
Our painting is from the atelier of the artist, acquired from a Paris art gallery. It is of a beautiful nude model titled "Nu Féminin " and is a watercolor drawing on heavy paper. Pirenne-Keppenne did not sign it but did date it for 1918. Sight dimensions are 32x 23 cm. Contemporary framing is 67 cm x 57 cm.
