This lovely antique bumblebee brooch is made of 18K gold and features nine diamonds making up the bee’s body stripes, a square cut, faceted sapphire, and ruby eyes (one ruby cabochon eye is missing). There is also a cultured pearl as accent. The brooch is marked with the eagle head for 18K gold (hard to see in our photos, but it is there!) and a maker’s mark that we can’t make out and is also difficult to photograph. We bought this brooch in France, and it dates to the late 19th to early 20th Century. The bee is missing a section of one antenna and one foot. The clasp works well. We are pricing this reasonably so that you will have a fine piece of vintage jewelry at a good price should you choose to replace the missing eye. The brooch is 4.7cm and weighs 5.2 grams.
