This is an absolutely charming Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" English Bone China Child's Mug depicting a Bunnykins' family winter outing. A spirited sledding adventure punctuated with a snowball fight is shown on one side of this lovely mug. A snowman in use as a target for a snowballed armed mouse and Bunnykins youngster graces the other side.
The Bunnykins are based on the artwork of Barbara Vernon Baily, the daughter of the Doulton factory general manager in the 1930's who modeled figurines and nursery tableware after the drawings. Miss Barbara was not only an amateur illustrator but also a nun in the Augustinian Canoness of the Latern.
This wonderful mug weighs 8 ounces, is 3 ½ " in diameter, 3" tall and is clearly back stamped with the Royal Doulton Bunnykins mark, copyright 1936.
