Beautifully handcrafted 1900-1920 era watered silk pin holder in the shape of a little purse. The top of the "purse" does not open, but has a rigid cardboard pin holder sewn in place. The body of the needle case is fashioned from watered silk wide ribbon with a pink roses and pale blue floral pattern on a cream color background and blush pink edge. The "handle" is made from matching blush pink silk ribbon. Increasingly difficult to find items like these are even more challenging to see in such great condition! This piece has been well preserved over the years, likely unused. It appears all the pins are undisturbed. Items like this were popular to make and give as gifts. Such ribbon related items were often featured in ladies magazines and books, suitable for small project creations. They added a feminine touch to sewing baskets, nursery, or boudoir. This little pin keeper measures about 7.5 x 3 inches, not including the ribbon handle for hanging. I see no damage to this well preserved sewing accessory. This is a great opportunity to add a treasure to your personal collection.
