A petite and sentimental sewing accessory dating to the late Victorian era, 1890's or so. This is a hand made scissor case or holder. It appears to have a cardboard base that is covered in black silk and burgundy velvet. The front is hand painted with yellow primroses and white daisy flowers and the words "I heal all wounds but those of Love". There is a pale blue silk ribbon for hanging .Inside is a removable leather insert that holds a tiny pair of sewing or embroidery scissors. They scissors are very small, just 2.5 inches long, with some corrosion to the metal. They are unmarked, but I did take them out and check to see that they open and close okay and they DO cut (at least paper!). There is a small leather tab at the top of the insert for easy removal from the textile covered case. The case can be gently squeezed on the sides and it bows slightly, for easy removal of the leather insert. The case measures about 3 x 2 inches. This was likely created as a gift for a friend or family member... such a sweet and intimate sentiment. It is is very good condition for being over 100 years old. It makes a great addition to your vintage and antique sewing collection or embroidery basket.
