Beautiful antique needlework or needlepoint art of wool fibers on paper punch, set into a wood frame with original old glass and wood board backing. The subject is a young brunette girl with blue ribbons in her hair, a dress with pink/red skirt and pale blue apron. She is holding her beloved doll! This darling piece of folk art is very well executed with tight even stitches and good color design. It dates from the mid to late 1800's and is in very good condition for the age. The glass has unique variations and a few bubbles, testament to the age of the piece. There are a few ripples to the paper, but minimal and not detracting. please view photos for details. The wood frame is painted a gold tone, somewhat scuffed here and there from years of enjoyment. The colors of the wool needlework are bright and retain good color. I see just a tiny bit of spotting (so minor) on the paper. This picture would be perfect with a doll display or in a young girls room. It is perfect for display with antique and vintage toys, particularly the Victorian period, or perhaps with Victorian samplers. It measures about 12.5 x 11.5 inches.
