Tin Litho Penny Toy Doll Reference Book! "Penny Toys from Heaven"!

This is a beautiful NEW book (still sealed in cellophane wrap) put out by Theriault's that is called, "Penny Toys From Heaven." It is an exquisite collection of all kinds of tin litho antique penny toys! It is an auction catalog with the prices realized list and is just a fantastic reference for anyone who collects penny toys. The description of the book says, "'One thing just led to another' is the way that Jane Anderson described her collecting. Combine that with an unquenchable curiosity, a zeal to win, and infinite good taste and you have the makings of a superb collection. That is what collectors will find when they open the catalog featuring 300 tin penny toys made in Germany and France during the early years of the 20th century. What collectors may neglect to realize is the rarity of these tiny treasures that were just simple trinkets, bought for one penny from street vendors, and destined by dint of their size and their cheapness for the dust bin. To find them at all is rare, to find them in fine condition is a collector's dream.. Whatever was popular at the time was made in a tiny penny toy size and the Anderson Collection reflects this ranging from tiny models of larger toys such as Toonerville Trolley or Pool Players, to early aviation including the Wright Brothers aeroplane, hot air balloons and zeppelins, to circus clowns and ferris wheels and merry-go-rounds. The love of animals is reflected in penny toys from amusing costumed dogs to nodding head polar bears to little bunnies riding a larger bunny. Rare models include traditional blue-suited St. Nicholas pulling a candy container cart, few examples are known to exist. Girl-themed penny toys are found in the Anderson Collection, too, including children in carriages holding dolls, and other dollhouse furnishings. Beautifully lithographed tin houses with coin slots for use as penny banks are also included as are trolleys and trains. Many of these tiny toys are wonderful mechanical actions, so charming in their simplicity and all are in wonderful original condition. The 300 piece collection is presented in a 84-page full-color book with photographs and details descriptions of each toy."
