This framed piece is 6 1/2 x 5 1/2. It is a cross stitch on a tight linen. The stitching is of course black and so is the simple frame. I think we can say this was the craft of someone who had her work framed, not a commercial piece. The linen is a pale honey color and I am sure it was a lighter color originally. The aging appears to happening in an even fashion. The framing was done by Lyman Brothers of Indianapolis which I think opened in 1933. The paper has separated from the edge and you can see that it was framed using copper brads. So this piece likely has a good deal of age.
The corners of the frame could stand a bit of stain..but otherwise very good shape. The back deserves to be sealed to protect the work, but I'd save the Lyman label.
