This is a really good condition reverse painted silhouette with background painting (through the window)...rather Americana which contains a thermometer and a calendar on the the back. That calendar gives us the date of the piece...It's 1953. I am sure this was a corporate gift to customers of the Valley Brick and Supply Co....and who knows where they were or are. The frame is metal, painted gold - still is good condition. There is a two hole placement in the back cover from which a tassel cord for hanging is strung. I believe the thermometer works as it is correctly pegging the temperature in my room as I type. If not, you will have a perfect temp of 78 degrees permanently. The calendar is upside down..but flops down to hang below the picture. It will be forever 1953. Mamie Eisenhower would likely approve.

This is silhouette slight over 10 x 8 inches.
