As I having been writing in the many listings of American Modern, there is nothing more "modern" or "retro" than the soft, functional forms of the line designed by Russel Wright. It was and remains wildly popular and kept Steubenville Pottery expanding at time when other manufacturer's were closing. The pattern was first introduced in 1939, but I usually think of it as part of the 1950's. (Just me- there). It is very much like Fiesta, you can mix and match the colors. Or you can be the purest and collect just one color. For that up-to-date look I like the Granite grey and the Seafoam. This soup lug is in the Black Chutney which looks sponge painted. Its dark brown color invokes a great warmth - perfect for a serving of soup or stew and it works very well with the other colors. This line has a shiny glaze.
The lug is 6 7/8ths in size and stands just under 2 inches. Condition is great with no chips or the like.
Orphaned Treasure is listing a good many listings so you may pick and mix as you like. Of course we combine shipping cost.
