Item : Petite Georgian Fob
Origin : Likely English, Circa 1830

Size : 1" tall , ...... carnelian measures 1/2" X 5/8" , ......5.6 grams
Scale : Small , ...... while this fob is definitely not the smallest fob I've sold by far , it is small in scale . Actually the perfect size to wear on a chain as a pendant or add as a bracelet charm .
Condition : In excellent and original condition with no issues to note.
Comments : Made in an array of sizes , styles and materials , fobs were originally made to be worn on a watch chain outside a small pocket and attached to the swagged chain . The fob acted as the counter balance to the weight of the pocket watch, as well as an aesthetically pleasing adornment . Often another function was made possible with a fob , as many were carved with the wearer's initials , family seal or crest , thus allowing the wearer to personally stamp correspondence and documents. Many fobs like this one remain uncarved.
