Item : Pair Of Vintage Boudoir Lamps
Origin : Italy , ...... Early to Mid 20th Century
Marks : No marks of significance . Single C on the bottom of each foot.
Material : Made of glass , brass and porcelain flowers.
Size : 13" tall, ...... 4 & 1/2" diameter
Scale : Adult size dresser lamps , delicate in appearance .
Condition : Both lamps are in good vintage condition. Both have been newly rewired with flexible gold fabric cord and both have new white plugs . The sockets have not been replaced . The glass interior painted shafts are flaking and one of the mirrored disks has been replaced . The replaced glass disk is green on the edge and the original disk is cloudy and losing some of its silvering. The shaft of the lamp with the original disk is a little loose but stable . Otherwise , these charming vintage lamps are in lovely condition . None of the porcelain flowers are broken or appear chipped in any significant way , at least to my eye .
Comments : These feminine dresser lamps adorned either end of my jewelry cases at antique shows for many years. At nearly every show someone asked to buy them and I always replied they were display only and not for sale . The truth is I always thought I would keep them for my own dresser as they are prettier and in better condition than my current pair. But for sentimental reasons my current pair won out so these are for sale for the first time in twenty-five years.
I have tried to point out all their age related issues as well as mentioning the replaced mirrored disk . If one required the mirrored disks to match perfectly, the original one could be replaced . When the lamps are placed a distance away from each other I don't notice the difference . ...... They are purposely photographed side by side so you can determine the mirrored disk differences. Many years ago, rushing to open for a show I knocked over one of the lamps and the mirrored disk broke. After that I took better care of them .
About twenty-five years old, I am happy to include the small clip-on shades with beads as shown . These are the shades I have always used with the lamps . They are slightly too short as part of the sockets show but I felt the beads covered them well enough and liked the look overall. I have included a picture of the lamp with a drum shade as well for a slightly more transitional look.
Again, the wiring is new as are the plugs . The sockets are old . Of course I cannot assume responsibility for safe electrical function so am officially selling them 'as is' .
All items are used and appear as such . Any flaws will be addressed and described as best as I can . Please examine the photos as well as they are the best indicators of condition.
