1960's Italian Silver Mid Century Modernist / Brutalist Bracelet
This striking vintage bracelet is a wonderful combination of shape and texture in a classic Brutalist presentation of coarse, asymmetrical design elements. Each of the twenty-one hinged stations is a conspicuous arrangement of burnished and stippled shapes in diverse heights against a rough, matte silver background. The craggy nature of the presentation is softened and controlled through repetition of the motif on each of the stations, and the bracelet is in excellent condition with a strong, well-working box clasp and two safety clasps.
Marked with 1944 - 1968 Italian hallmarks, the bracelet tests positive for sterling silver, measures 7 7/8 x 9/16-inches and weighs 31.6 grams.
Brutalism is a post-World War II design style popular in the 1960s and 1970s. Brutalist jewelry is characterized by geometric and/or abstract shapes, coarse materials and silhouettes and high texture.
