Outstanding 38 Inch early Art Deco Silver, Amethyst And Rock Crystal Pendant Necklace
This early 20th Century necklace features an ornamental, 36-inch sterling silver chain with a jump-ring and bolt- or spring-ring suspending a striking 2 1/4-inch pendant. The unusual pendant is meticulously crafted and includes a teardrop shaped natural amethyst that's bisected to receive a luminous, faceted Quartz Crystal spacer. The Amethyst is a lavish combination of violet-purple to icy white color with a sleek, glassy luster, dramatic banding and splashes of rainbow iridescence. The smooth surface is nicely accompanied by the Rock Crystal and the flashes of light from its facets, and the pendant is suspended from a riveted bail and marked "800" silver jump-ring. The chain is a lovely arrangement of 3/4-inch elongated ovals with lemniscate and granule centers joined by five-ring chains.
In excellent vintage / antique condition, the chain is marked and tests positive for sterling silver, the necklace messures approximately 38 1/4-inches overall and weighs 63.7 grams.
Amethyst, a member of the quartz family, is February's birthstone and the sixth anniversary gemstone.
