1940's vintage silk satin evening gown features a sultry and sculptural off-the-shoulder silhouette with a plunging rear neckline, a sweetheart neckline in front and shoulder straps. The front of the bodice has a sweeping bow-shape formed through a rhythmic series of pleats that radiate from a vertical row of shirring at the center, the dramatic tailoring device repeated in spectacular fashion below the brazen rear neckline where it defines the waist and drapes snugly over the hips. The five-panel skirt has overcast seams and is shaped through a series of darts that release to a flirty fullness at the bound hemline. There is a "Saks Fifth Avenue" label on a skirt seam and the dress is in very good vintage condition, clean, strong and ready to wear with a small, difficult to find repair just above the hemline, measures 57-inches long with an unexpanded 36 bust, 30 waist and 36 hip.
