I have for your consideration a beautiful Victorian Era (circa 1860's) brides basket/centerpiece comprised of a phenomenal and RARE Blue swirl Maze brides bowl and a silver plated Rogers brides basket/holder.
The Mt. Washington blue swirl Maze satin mother of pearl glass brides bowl is rare and fabulous. It is not in the Moire pattern but as noted above and in the title of this item, A SWIRLING OR MAZE PATTERN. The teal blue exterior fades from dark to light as it nears the bottom of the bowl. The top third of the bowl has a undulating rolling rim and the interior of the bowl has a teal blue hue which also fades in intensity as it moves downward. The MOP bowl measures nearly 10" across and 4" tall.
This rare Maze swirl brides bowl sits in a marked Rogers silver plated basket #192. The basket/centerpiece is decorated with figural birds with wings outspread and measures 15-1/2" from tip of one bird's tail to the other. It stands on four ornately detailed legs and is adorned with a raised decorated design on the exterior of the platform which hold the bowl. In addition intricately stenciled leaves support the bowl on front and back. The birds sit atop each winged perch as if they were ready to soar off into the sky.
The swirl Maze satin mother of pearl bowl and Rogers basket are in excellent condition. There are no cracks, flakes or chips to the bowl. The Rogers silver plate basket shows age appropriate patina and plate wear can be found only on the underside. There are no repairs or restorations.
