I have for your consideration a fabulously old Limoges tea set bearing one of the earlier underglaze Tressemann & Vogt Factory (T&V) mark 4a (circa early 1890's).
The tea set consists of a tea pot measuring 7.25" high and 10" across from spout to handle, a lidded sugar standing 6" tall and 7" across from handle to handle, and a creamer 5.25" tall and 5.5" across from spout to handle. This is a fairly substantial sized set and the unique arched shape of the base adds an additional layer of appeal.
Each piece to the set is done is wonderful sprigs of pink, blue, and purple wild flowers with grasses and wheat shoots interspersed throughout the floral design. The green foliage and yellow center to some of the flowers add another pop of color. The handles split at the top and are embellished with shiny gold floral and leaf details. The rim of all pieces together with the finial handles on the lidded sugar and tea pot also have this gold embellishment. The spout of the tea pot is six sided and each ribbed is detailed in gold, as well. The floral design is on the front of all pieces and continues around to the back; it also adorns the lid of the sugar and tea pot.
The set is in remarkable condition for its age. The tea pot and sugar are in excellent shape with only minor gold wear around the rims and on the handles. The creamer on the back side has a spider hairline on the left top near the handle. It holds water. Otherwise, all pieces are free of chips, cracks, hairlines, flakes, and flea bites.
