I am delighted to offer for your consideration a Victorian era (circa 1880's) brides basket consisting of a Mt Washington Peachblow brides bowl and silver-plated brides basket.
The beautiful large Mt. Washington attributed victorian gold decorated cased Peachblow folded/ruffled edge bride bowl was produced during the 1880's. It measures 9.5" across and 4" tall. The exterior of the Peachblow bowl is a dark cranberry at the top which gradually fades to a soft coral/pink as it moves its way down to the bottom. The thick raised gold decoration of flowers, branches, berries and trailing vines swirl around all sides of the bowl. The extremely heavy gold floral detailing is amazing . The bowl has a polished pontil mark on the bottom with some faded numbers I cannot make out. A really beautiful
Th Peachblow brides bowl sits nicely in its unmarked (at least these eyes can't make one out) silver plated brides basket. It measures 11.75" across and 9" tall. The basket sits on three balled feet formed by garlands of flowers that a draped from the circular frame which houses the brides bowl. The ornate handle is adorned with flowers on each side and a crisp and clean large balled top which compliments the balled feet.
The Mt Washington Peachblow brides bowl is in remarkable condition with no wear to the incredible gold floral work around the exterior. There is wear, however, to the gold that once graced the top folded/ruffled rim. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines. The delicate and ornate silver plated basket shows little signs of tarnish and no repairs or restorations.
