Egg-shaped vase with a honey colored hare's fur glaze by Berndt Friberg, without question Sweden's master potter. He worked with both Wilhem Kage and Stig Lindberg, beginning as an apprentice thrower, learning from Sweden's best before taking his own place as a world-renowned ceramicist.
The vase is 3½ inches high and 3 inches in diameter at its widest point. When you look deep into the the honey-colored glaze, you can see green accents. It's in wonderful shape, no chips, cracks or crazing. There may have been a repair done to this vase, however. Look at the picture of the bottom of the vase. At 1 and 9 o'clock there are marks which may be signs of repair. The larger mark is visible if the vase is at eye level, but it is not a glaring flaw. I haver reduced the price because of this. The vase is signed on the bottom, Friberg, along with the hand symbol indicating it's a studio piece. Weight 3024 grams
