Basket weaving was and is a way of life for the Cherokee women. Sold by the roadside in the Carolinas- they were painstakingly woven. This one is from the late 1940's and obtained from a prolific collector of native American crafts. This one is a hard woven stiff and sturdy basket with cane double handles. It stands easily and is a beautiful display piece. Lovely pattern. Quality throughout . Excellent condition. Generous size- measures 9 1/2" tall- with handles- 14 1/2". Width 6 1/2".
