What a glamorous example of 1940's vintage wedding or engagement jewelry with beautiful Ceylon sapphires & Old European cut diamonds this is! If you are an Art Deco girl, drawn to the 1930's-1940's one of a kind rings, you will adore this fabulous ring. I immediately knew I had to have it when I saw it last fall. The wonderful Old European cut diamonds with beautiful clarity and color, the amazing color of the Ceylon sapphires with their pentagon cuts, the unusual setting of all the stones make this an eye-catching, jaw-dropping ring which you will want to wear each and every day. I hope you love it as much as I do!
There is one bezel set Old European cut diamond, with SI2 clarity, perfect J/K color, weighing approximately 39/100 of a carat. Surrounding the center stone are eight bezel set pentagon shaped modified mixed cut natural Ceylon blue sapphires, eye clean, type II, medium light, very slightly grayish blue color, with a good cut, weighing approximately 1.40 carats. Interspersed between the sapphires are eight bead set Old European single cut diamonds, SI1-I1 in clarity, J/K color, weighing 08/100 of a carat. Down the shoulders of the ring are two bead set Old European cut diamonds, 08/100 of a carat, I/J in color, VS2-SI1 in clarity. There is slight wear on the stones, typical with its age. The total weight of the diamonds is 55/100 of a carat. This is a fabulous ring!
The ring has been tested and is 14K white gold, meaning it has 58.3% fineness of pure gold. There is some illegible engraving in the band of the ring with the date 6/3/40, which could easily be removed. The ring is size 6, measures 1/2 an inch in diameter from east to west, from the top down, and sits up 3/16ths of an inch from the finger.
