Elegant, fabulous, classic, perfection......the adjectives could go on and on. I adore this beautiful Art Deco cluster ring. Its fabulous natural blue 1.33 carat sapphire's color, the Old European cut diamonds, its perfect halo setting with lovely rose gold mounting of the stones, with even more diamonds down the shoulders is perfection! Circa 1920's-1930's, this beautiful ring would make an exquisite engagement ring, or if you're a September baby, what a perfect birthstone ring to enjoy each and every day! I just love the way the jeweler has made use of mixed metals, the cool white platinum shank with the lovely rose gold and yellow gold surrounding the diamonds and sapphire.
There is one prong set round modified brilliant cut natural blue sapphire, measuring 7.00 - 6.90 x 3.40mm, weighing approximately 1.33 carats, type II, eye clean, very slightly grayish, slightly greenish blue color, with a good cut. Surrounding the sapphire are ten prong set Old European cut diamonds, measuring 3.10 - 3.00 x 1.89mm weighing 97/100 of a carat. The diamonds have a warm lovely I-L color, are SI2-I1 in clarity, with a good cut, with a diamond weight of 97/100 of a carat. Six prong set single cut diamonds are set down the shoulders of the ring, a bright I/J in color, SI2-I1 in clarity, with a good cut. The total weight of the diamonds is 1.05 carats.
The mounting has been carefully tested and has a platinum shank and 14K rose and yellow gold mounting of the stones, meaning it has 950/1000ths of pure platinum with 58.3% fineness of rose gold/yellow gold. The ring measures 9/16ths of an inch from top to bottom and from east to west. The ring is size 6 1/4 and sits up 3/16ths of an inch from the finger. The total piece weighs 3.26 grams.
