This is the most adorable English Edwardian floral setting of natural rubies with an Old European cut diamond at its center and rose cut diamonds surrounding the center diamond.......absolutely charming! Circa 1901-1910, this delicate setting reminds me of all things English. The English dealer I bought it from said it came from an estate of an elderly woman who had received it from her mother. How I wish we knew when it was presented to her mother, what was the occasion and from whom? It is a beautiful ring & I hope you fall in love with it as I did in London this fall!
There is one bezel set Old European cut diamond at the ring's center, with beautiful, near colorless H/I color, weighing approximately 06/100 of a carat. Surrounding the center stone are eight bezel set rose cut diamonds in a lovely floral setting, with two more rose cut diamonds on the shoulders of the ring, again with bright near colorless H/I color, I1 clarity, weighing approximately 07/100 of a carat.
There are twenty channel set square cut natural rubies, with a beautiful strong dark red color, slightly included clarity, with a good cut, weighing approximately 20/100 of a carat. The ring is set in a marked & tested 18K yellow gold setting, meaning it has 75% fineness of pure gold, with a tested platinum setting into which the diamonds are set, meaning it has 950/1000ths of pure platinum. The ring sits up 1/8th of an inch, so has a very low profile, perfect for every day wear. The ring measures 5/8ths of an inch from east to west, 7/16ths of an inch from top to bottom & is ring size 9 1/2. The ring can be easily sized up or down by a good jeweler. The total piece weighs 3.21 grams.
