I adore this fabulous antique Edwardian cabochon opal & diamond ring, circa 1900's. What a gorgeous engagement or wedding ring this would be if you are drawn towards something different. So many young couples these days are opting for colored stones or a center stone surrounded by diamonds. The setting of this ring with natural platinum over gold is so exquisite, with swoops of luxurious platinum & Old European cut diamonds everywhere! This is truly a magnificent ring, one you will never see on anyone else.......definitely one-of-a-kind. This ring is a showstopper! I hate to let it go, but now it's someone else's turn to love it forever.
There is one oval shaped cabochon cut white opal in the center of this ring, measuring 8.71 x 7.03 x 3.27mm, weighing approximately 1.14 carats. The opal has a flash fire of color in all directions, somewhat directional, is well polished and the opal is bezel set. Magnificent! Surrounding the opal are twelve Old European cut diamonds, weighing approximately 62/100 of a carat, with near colorless H-I-J color, SI1 clarity, prong & bezel set.
The ring is set in an open work cluster style, stamped & tested 18K yellow gold, meaning it has 58.3% fineness of pure gold with a platinum topped cluster crown, meaning it has 950/1000ths of pure platinum. The piece weighs 6.51 grams.
