Stunning, royal, exquisite, magnificent.....the adjectives could go on and on. If you are looking for a very special engagement or wedding ring, look no farther. This superb ring with a magnificent 9.75 carat amethyst & diamond ring would make a stunning, one-of-a-kind engagement ring. If you are a February baby, here is a wonderful birthstone ring for you to enjoy for many years to come. I bought this ring from one of my favorite dealers who has a huge antique/estate jewelry business. When the royal families of Europe want to liquidate their family heirlooms, they call him. He deals with amazing, heirloom jewelry and it's always a huge treat to walk into his showroom and see his latest finds. I hope you love it as much as I do!
There is one prong set emerald standard step cut natural amethyst, measuring 15.60 x 11.60 x 7.50mm, weighing approximately 9.75 carats, type II, medium saturation, very slightly grayish, purple color, eye clean clarity, with a good cut. On either side of the center stone are ten prong set round brilliant cut diamonds, measuring 2.80 x 2.80 x 1.68mm, weighing approximately 80/100 of a carat, a beautiful bright H/I color, bright, sparkling VS1-VS2 clarity, with a good cut. The total weight of the piece is 6.34 grams.
The stones are set in a tested 18K yellow and white gold mounting, meaning they have 75.0% fineness of pure gold. The ring is ring size 9.5, which can be easily sized up or down by a good jeweler. There is slight wear of the table of the stone, typical of its age, which can be polished out if you prefer, just ask. Circa 1960's-1970's, the ring measures 3/4 of an inch from east to west and 5/8ths of an inch from top to bottom. The ring sits up 3/8ths of an inch from the hand.
