Love, love, love this amazing Old Mine Cut/transitional cut diamond pendant/brooch, circa 1920, set in platinum. If you are a bride or a mother of a bride, look no farther. Or if you need an exquisite piece for a special anniversary or birthday gift for your sweetheart, this is it. She will adore wearing this magnificent pendant, dripping with diamonds as she attends her next event. Or treat yourself to a fabulous "Happy Gift to Me - I deserve it" treat! The Edwardians really knew how to create fabulous, one-of-a-kind diamond spectacles, and this pendant can't be beat. I truly wish it could talk and could tell us who has adored it down through the decades. Circa 1920, now this delicious pendant/brooch can become an family heirloom to pass on to your daughters and granddaughters!
There is one old mine cut diamond which measures 5mm x 3.12mm and weighs approximately 51/100 of a carat, with I/J color and dangles from the center drop. There are 9 diamonds across the top in a fan shape of graduated sizes. There is a big bow of diamonds under the center stone, with a dangle of diamonds supporting a freshwater natural pearl of approximately 6.8mm in size. There are a total of 93 transitional round brilliant cut/old European cut/single cut diamonds in this piece, weighing approximately 1.36 of a carat, with I/J color, SI1-I1 clarity. I love the diamonds on the bail which is extremely generous to slide your favorite white gold or omega chain through. Or the bail swings down, to tuck under when you wear it as a pin or brooch. The whole entire piece is so delicate, airy, deliciously filled with diamonds.
The piece measures 2 1/4 inches from the top of the bail to the bottom, and 1 7/16ths of an inch from east to west. The total diamond weight of the 94 diamonds is 1.87 of a carat, which makes this piece very sparkly, very brilliant no matter which way you turn. Please note that the chain is not included, but for display purposes only.
The mounting has been carefully tested and is platinum, meaning it is 950/1000ths of pure platinum; it is also 18K white gold, meaning it has 75% fineness of pure gold. The pendant/brooch is peg set with its pearl; the diamonds are bead & bezel set. The total piece weighs 8.7 grams.
