These dynamite earrings are the most exquisite set of Antique Victorian earrings I have ever come across with cabochon natural emeralds, with a Florentine finish & enameling. Circa 1880-1890, the Victorians were experts at making a statement with their jewelry. Fine jewelry of the era not only complimented the well-dressed lady's attire, but also denoted her position in society, her marital status, and her sense of self. When it came to formal occasions, the "more is better" theme of the Victorian era carried into how jewelry was worn by royalty & the aristocracy. The earrings have a professionally applied Florentine finish, which was so popular in Victorian jewelry and the pearly off-white enameling which was equally huge in their jewelry. With these earrings on your ear, and the matching ring, item number RED 494 in my shop, you will be noticed when you enter a room, you will be asked if you inherited this suite of gorgeous jewelry.....I'll never tell! What an eye-catching look this is, which will catch your friends off guard. They will definitely come over to take a second look at the ring and the earrings if you purchase this set.......beautiful!
There are two prong set round cabochon standard cut natural emeralds, type III, medium light, very slightly bluish green color, slightly included, with a good cut. Surrounding the emeralds are 16 bezel set rose cut diamonds in a floral design, with a beautiful J/K color, lovely SI1 clarity. The flowers are set on a base of pearly white enamel work, which is so lovely. Surrounding the center design are 36 bezel set rose cut diamonds, a lovely J/K color and SI1 clarity. The total weight of the diamonds is 34/100 of a carat.
The earrings are set in tested 18K yellow gold, in a combination cast & hand-made earrings with friction posts, meaning they have 75% fineness of pure gold. Notice the lovely Florentine finish on the bezels supporting the rose cut diamonds, professionally applied by hand with a line graver, one direction, and then another direction spaced evenly. The back of the earrings is beautifully done as well. The earrings measure 13/16ths of an inch from top to bottom, and 5/8ths of an inch from east to west. The earrings sit up 5/16ths of an inch from the ear. The total piece weighs 16.80 grams, a big bold gold weight!
