This magnificent piece of art glass was purchased in Helsinki, Finland at an arts' studio in 1966. It perfectly exemplifies the mid-century modern style in shape and colour. However, the quality of the classic design complements any décor from retro to the 21st century.
It measures 5 ¾" tall with a base of 4 ¼" in diameter and a top lip of 5 ¼" in diameter. The colour is a deep olive/leaf green. The only signature on the piece is a small scratched SI underlined or TS on the bottom (see photo) by the artist.
This is definitely a masterpiece of the glass blowing art. Note the pontil mark. A Pontil mark or punt mark is the scar where the pontil, punty or punt was broken from a work of blown glass. The presence of this scar indicates that the piece was blown freehand.
Condition: Perfect. No chips, flaws or any other damage.
