Robert Michael Ballantyne (24 April 1825 – 8 February 1894) was a Scottish author of juvenile fiction, who wrote more than a hundred books. His books are still enjoyed by young adult readers today.

This novel was first published in 1882 when the public was fascinated by tales of exploration of the North and South Poles. This copy has no date but it was probably published very close to the original.

Condition: This is a much loved edition. The front free endpaper is missing, stamp on the front endpaper, sine cracked in the center of the book and back cover has a lighter ring. Otherwise, the interior is clean and bright with no markings and the front cover and spine are still brightly decorated. A readable copy.
