Peter Snell was born in Oxford in 1935. He served in the Fleet Air Arm for nine years spending much of his time touring the world. In 1979 he started painting full-time and now lives in Wiltshire with his wife and family, where his studio overlooks Salisbury Plain. His work in oils explores the English landscape. He has had numerous one-man exhibitions and his work is to be found in collections worldwide.
This painting, which depicts a thatched cottage in a rural setting, was purchased in London, England, in the late 1980's.
Framed it measures 14 1/2" by 16 1/2". The canvas measures 8" by 10" measured from the back. The exposed canvas at the front measures 7 1/2" by 9 1/2". It is signed on lower left.
Condition: Painting is Perfect. The linen mat on the right side has moved slightly and has two spots which could be removed. The frame could be tightened slightly top left. Neither of these are visible when hung.
