Gorgeous wine-colored, polished calf leather with gold stamped title on spine and decoration on front cover of a cross and corners decorated with gold lines. Endpapers are gold, cream and green in a William Morris design and the edges are gold stamped on leather in the same design. Frontis. Is an etching of the Virgin and Child with tissue guard. All edges gilt with a red underlay which produces a deep rich polished gold. 1152 pages.
Condition: (as per AB Bookman’s rating) FINE ++. Faint scuff to bottom of spine and a tiny nick in the leather of the top front corner. A few, almost invisible black dots on the leather of the front cover which may be peculiar to the leather and not a defect. 2” split in the paper between front free endpaper. And blank page. Otherwise, As New!
