Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a late Victorian era ring made of 12kt. yellow gold, circa 1890. This ring features a circular design with prong set, natural half pearls. The ring is a cluster style engagement ring, suitable as a fashion ring. The round and baroque shaped pearls are 2mm round the center with a center 3mm pearl. There is light oxidation of the designs in the ring. The shank of the ring has "cut outs" to add interest to the piece. The ring is a size 6 and can be re-sized. The piece weighs 2.4 grams. The head of the ring is 5/8" wide X 1/2" wide.

The Victorians loved symbolism and their jewelry frequently represented hidden meanings. The pearl stood for purity, chastity and daintiness. Pearl jewelry became fashionable for brides during the Victorian period. The use of pearl jewelry for brides continues today.

The gold content of this piece has been tested using standard accepted testing methods, such as acid testing. The pearls were measured for size using a standard jeweler's caliper. The pearls are assumed to be natural since the piece pre-dates cultured pearls. The pearls were not removed from the piece to determine exact carat weight.
