Colorful Grand Georgian Foiled Ring c. 1820

Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering an 18Kt. yellow gold with 10Kt. yellow gold woman's ring in a decidedly Georgian style, c. 1820. The centerpiece of this ring is 18Kt. gold and contains a prong set, faceted, emerald cut, foil backed citrine gemstone. The central gemstone is mounted in a decorative edging. The accent stones surrounding the citrine are deep purple amethysts. There are 6 prong set, cabochon cut amethyst stones and 6 prong set, faceted and flat cut amethysts to add colorful interest, a total of 12 amethyst accent gemstones. The ring shank is of a slightly later period than the decorative portion of the ring and is in 10kt. gold. The gemstone center was probably a brooch in its earlier life and was made into a ring during the Victorian era. An original Georgian center piece with a practical style. The dimensions are 3/4" wide (East to West) X 1" (North to South), as it sits on the hand. The ring is a size 7-1/4 and weighs 9.4 grams. This piece can be re-sized, if required.

Georgian era jewelers frequently set gemstones in closed back settings. These stones were often foil backed under the gems to enhance the stones sparkle in candlelight.
