Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a handmade sterling silver pendant holding an ancient Alexander the Great bronze coin. The coin is of Alexander III, also called Alexander the Great (336 - 323 BC) from the Kingdom of Macedonia. The front face of the coin is of Alexander as Heracles (or Hercules) wearing a Nemean Lion skin headdress. Normally in these coins the head faces right, unusually, the head of this coin is facing left. It is a bronze hemiobol. The obverse has "AΛEΞANΔPOY" with a bow case and Hercules' club. The frame is a modern sterling silver handcrafted piece decorated with a Greek key design. It is created to hold the coin without damage. The piece is 1" round and drops 1-1/8". The pendant weighs 9.2 grams. The pendant could be added to a key ring, purse or other items.
The silver content of this piece has been tested using standard accepted testing methods, such as acid testing.
