Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a 14kt. yellow gold Swiss pendant and chain covered in guilloche enamel circa 1900. The enamel is in an interesting color between turquoise, green and Prussian blue with a white Greek design on the front. The reverse features the same enameling with a gold cartouche. The cartouche contains a monogram which is indecipherable, but interesting. The piece opens to provide a small picture holder. The chain is spectacular with the same color enameling including the links, round spacers and rondelle shaped spacers. The chain is 19' long plus the "drop" which 3-1/2" long. The locket is 1-3/4" round, including the bail. A great piece, the enamel is in very good to excellent condition. The piece overall weighs 20.8 grams. The piece was converted from a watch and chain.
The piece is marked "14kt" + "Swiss" and has the hallmark for Swiss 14kt. gold based on Tardy's Poincons D'Or de Platine et de Palladium, 13th. Edition, Paris.
