Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a vintage sterling silver Niels Eric From necklace. This set is typical of the 1940-50's work of the Danish artist and silversmith N. E. From (Niels Eric From). His pieces typify the simplistic look of the mid-twentieth century, austere, classic and all about the designs and not the materials, a modern view of the Arts & Crafts traditions. This piece features small pointed leaves attached to a double chain. The leaves are repousee style and attached together by a double link attachment. The closure is a box style clasp. The necklace is 15" to 15-1/2" long. The necklace weighs 70.0 grams and is in excellent condition. It is fully marked with, "Sterling" + "Denmark" + "NE From" + "S925".

Niels Eric From, at aged 23, was a trained silversmith. He opened his shop in 1931 and for the next 40 years, his floral-inspired pieces highlighted Denmark's Arts and Crafts period. From's designs are masterful examples of his ability to achieve unique detail and sinuous fluidity in simple forms. (Annotated from "Splendor: A Celebration of Jewelry Designers" by Carlotta STM).

Please note that vintage jewelry has been pre-owned, worn, and loved by its owner. The charm and beauty of vintage jewelry comes from the unique variations and characteristics inherent in hand-wrought silver. You may be able to see the artisan's tool marks. It is not new and perfect, nor should it be. Vintage silver items may also show age appropriate tarnish.
