Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a sterling silver demi-parure or suite by Margot de Taxco (Margot vanVoorhies Carr) in her early design style #5247. This set consists of a brooch/pendant, earrings and an added torque style necklace. The design features a very fluid 3-dimensional wave with graduated balls attached in a track. The brooch/pendant is substantial in size and presence. It is 2" in length X 1-5/8" (maximum width). The piece has a heavy flip clasp. The back is marked with "5247" + "Margot de Taxco" + "Sterling" + "Made in Mexico" + the eagle 16 mark with an older applied plaque. The brooch/pendant weighs 32.9 grams. The earrings are the same design and are 15/16" long 9-16" wide (maximum). They have comfort lever backs. The earrings are marked with the Eagle 16 mark and one earring has the #5247 style number. The earrings weigh 10.3 grams. There are dimples in one earring. To complete the set, we have added a tapered torque style necklace which is made in Taxco. It is 3/8" wide (maximum dimension). It is marked "Sterling" + "Taxco" + "TR-189". It weighs 20.4 grams.
The silver content of this piece has been tested using standard accepted testing methods, such as acid testing. The brooch/pendant and necklace are marked "Sterling". The earrings were tested and are Sterling Silver.
