Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a 12kt. yellow gold watch charm, fob or pendant. This piece features an oval onyx stone on the end. The pierced fob has four shields each decorated. The shield presumably represent the four countries making up the United Kingdom, with a thistle for Scotland, a Tudor rose for England, a shamrock for Ireland, and the leek for Wales. This piece is 1-1/8" long, weighs 4.0 grams.

This type of jewelry was popular during the Victorian Era. The fobs were attached to a pocket watch by a strap, chain, or ribbon. Watch fobs represented the owner’s interests. They could be an advertisement, a fraternal or military theme, initials, family crests, a seal, or a simple decorative piece. They were worn by both men and women.

The gold content of this piece has been tested using standard accepted testing methods, such as acid testing. The onyx is un-engraved and in pristine condition.
