Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a pair of handmade earrings featuring plique a jour enamel highlighted by opals. The round earrings have two 4.25mm round, cabochon cut, bezel set solid play of fire opals. The round plaque earring bodies have blue and green cold enamel plique a jour window pane stained glass. There are two 4.05mm round, cabochon cut, bezel set solid play of fire opals topping the earrings. The earrings are 3/4" round and are designed for pierced ears. They drop 1-1/16".
Plique a jour is French for "allow light in". The cold enameling technique is applied in cells, similar to cloisonne enamel, but without backing thus allowing light to shine through the transparent enamel.
