Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a Metales Casdos or married metals demi-parure circa 1950. The two pieces of this set include a bangle bracelet and matching ring. The creation of married metals was introduced during the Golden age of jewelry in the late 1940's and 50's. It is a time consuming and difficult process and was executed by only the most skilled jewelers. The three metals "married" together in this parure are copper and sterling silver with brass and nickel (possibly). The simplistic design features alternating rings of the three metals. The bracelet has an 8" interior and can be worn higher on the arm is wanted. It is a size 11 bracelet. The ring is a size 8-1/2 and can not be re-sized. Both the bracelet and ring are 3/8" wide. The bracelet and ring are marked "Metales Casados" + "Hecho en Mexico".

Metales Casados or married metal is a term used to describe the process of soldering contrasting metals together using a high temperature solder. Silver, copper and brass are the usual metals used. Once the metals have been joined, they can then be cut and made into jewelry or other goods.

The silver content of this piece has been tested using standard accepted testing methods, such as acid testing.
