Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering an Enrique Ledesma stylized brooch and earring demi-parure c. 1955. The abstract brooch and earrings of this set feature a pallette shaped base highlighted by a lightly oxidized surface. The edges of the pallette are rolled and it remains shiny silver. Overlayed on the pallette shape is a stylized oak leaf with soft edges and cut out to emphasize the darker oxidation and open cut out beneath. The brooch is 2-1/2" X 1-1/4" (maximum dimensions). It has a safety closure. It is marked with Ledesma+ Taxco+ Hecho en Mexico+ 925+ Eagle 3 mark. It weighs 13.5 grams. The earrings are 1-1/2" X 11/16" (maximum dimensions). They are marked Ledesma + Taxco+ 925+ Eagle 3 mark. The earrings have screw back fixtures and weigh 9.6 grams.

Enrique Ledesma was trained in his father's silver shop from a young age. He later worked for William Spratling, Hector Aguilar, and Los Castillo before opening his own shop about 1950. His training was in fine arts and his jewelry and other goods reflect this artistic bent. His jewelry is technically perfect and considered wearable art.

The silver content of this piece has been tested using standard accepted testing methods, such as acid testing. The silver is marked "925" for sterling silver.
