This lovely piece features an engraved bow with a prong set, round deep blue sapphire accented with 2 natural half pearls. The bow is mounted on an engraved bar. The brooch is hallmarked with a leopard's head for London Assay office and the date letter for 1851. There is a maker's mark which is partially obscured by the C clasp. The pin stem is silver.
The gold content of this piece has been tested using standard accepted testing methods, such as acid testing. The piece is marked "9" + "375" indicating 9 karat gold.
