This antique English bronze award medal was presented by the Wolverhampton Education Committee “for one year's perfect attendance.” The front carries the coat of arms of the city with the motto “Out of Darkness Cometh Light.” The crest carries a central cross with a wool pack recalling the old woolen trade, a representation of the town's Saxon pillar stone, an open book for the old grammar school, and a padlock for the lock industry. At the top are crossed keys, the symbol of Saint Peter, patron saint of the town.
