This antique miniature beaded purse is made of pale silver, pink, red, and gray seed beads. A floral design appears on both the front and back. A simple green glass cabochon button serves as the clasp.
The beads gave me the impression that they were cut steel but they do no attract a magnet. Perhaps they are aluminum, dating the purse to pre-1880, when aluminum was so difficult to extract that it was more valuable than gold.
The purse was originally lined in silk but over the years the lining has disintegrated.
Measurements: 2-1/2" wide x 2" high with the flap closed
Condition: as stated, the silk lining is almost gone; verdigris on the button clasp; no damage to the bead work. Non-smoking home. No funky smells.
