German Folk Art Devotional Piece Glass Dome Crucifix Pieta
Rare miniature glass dome (less as 6 inches in height!) covering an interesting convent work. A Crucifix (made of board) with Jesus Body (die-cut piece) surrounded by natural dried plants.
To the bottom of the Crucifix a Pieta depiction, die cut too, the top is adorned with mica and glass tiles. This part shows some of the Arma Christi /Passion instruments (made of board too). The image shows the Shrine of our Lady of Altoetting and the Chapel of Mercy.
The base is made of a round wooden piece, fixed to a board.
The condition of the devotional very good; the glass dome has a chip to the bottom, see please the pictures.
Measurements: 5.8 inches in height, 2.8 inches in diameter.
An amazing and unusual “under the Christmas tree” object.
Altoetting is a town in Bavaria, for 500 years it has been the scene of religious pilgrimages by Catholics in honor of Mary.
