Large Red Marble Cross Holy Water Stoup
A very beautiful and apart wall cross made of red marble. The red color of the cross marble is quite rare and comes from the hematite crystals included in the stone. Normally are this kind of devotional made of white or green marble. This holy water font is dated about 1880/1900.
The marble cross has a beautiful grain and charming white and gray inclusions, a very pleasant mix of colors.
Cross and water stoup are cast in brass and show amazing floral decorations. The most beautiful – the chalice to the bottom, as well rare motif.
The condition is very good. There are some fixing pin great bumpiness to the top and left side area to report. Felt, the beholder will only see some clear points to the surface. I guess they have natural origin - the marble piece may had soft chalk inclusions.
The cross is very large 14.6 x 8.6 inches and heavy (2.1 kg).
