This cute fellow was made and designed by the Hattie Carnegie Company in the mid-century, it is somewhat rare and hard to find. Hattie Carnegie designed many figural brooches many whimsical figures. This brooch is made of enameled gold-plated base metal. The colorful flowers are affixed to the caveman’s club with a spring so that when you move the brooch the flowers “tremble”. The brooch is hallmarked Hattie Carnegie in script on an oval cartouche and the rollover clasp closure functions as it should. This particular brooch is in very nice condition with only very slight wear consistent with its age, use, and storage. It appears to be well-loved and well cared for.
